This is a great little welder, I bought mine about 5-6 years ago and learned to weld on it! first of all take the rods that came with it and through them in the trash. They are useless, they create poor welds with a ton of slag. Get some brand name 1/16 or 5/64 6013 rods, night and day difference. second keep in mind this welder is for thinner metals not 3/8" plate. I have repaired numerous pieces of power equipment, made specialty tools, repaired cracks, and even welded the exhaust on my car with this thing. It is all about the rod choice, power setting and user technique not the cost and size of the machine. lastly it does not like to be run off a generator, You can but you will get much better results from an outlet. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely

I like the welder but the leads are to short would recommend at lease 12 foot leads and a cooling fan if you are using this welder it heats up extremely fast but works wonders .... Oh it doesn't run off a generator for some reason no matter how big the generator is
