Possible causes: No gas flow, water in gas tank, oil level is low, trigger on spray gun is not depressed, Start/Stop switch is in the stop position, spark plug is dirty or gap is wrong, carburetor needs cleaning, choke and run levers are not positioned correctly, air filter is dirty or wet.

Tools that may be needed: channel lock pliers.

Steps to take:

1. Make sure that gasoline and oil levels are full. Spark plug should be clean with the correct gap. Consult the engine manufacturer’s operation manual for instructions.

2. Attach the garden hose and pressure hose to the unit.

3. Put the engine/throttle control in the Fast/Start position. If your engine has a Primer Bulb, push it three times.

4. Turn on the water and then start the pressure washer. Be sure to squeeze the spray gun trigger while pulling the engine start cord. You must squeeze the trigger to relieve any back pressure or purge air pockets or the unit will not start. This is the most common reason why a pressure washer will not start.

5. If the engine does not start after three attempts, repeat steps 3 and 4.

6. If the engine still does not start, it may be that the bearings on the recoil are crossed. Sharply strike the top of the recoil housing to realign the bearings.

7. Repeat steps 3 and 4.

8. If your washer still does not start, this indicates a more serious condition in the pump or the engine. If your unit is under warranty, take it into the nearest Campbell Hausfeld service center. If it is not under warranty, you should take it into the nearest service center or call Campbell Hausfeld Technical Support at (800) 543-6400.
